Action Plan

Telegraph Tomorrow Association hopes to accomplish this vision through pursuit of the following goals:

  • Strengthen economic vitality as a major commercial corridor by fostering appropriate development and marketing

  • Improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the road in moving people and goods

  • Improve overall appearance

  • Improve and strengthen corridor neighborhoods

  • Implement a coordinated safety program

To realize its vision and achieve its goals, the Telegraph Tomorrow Association Governing Board:

  • applied for funding from the Michigan Department of Transportation and in 1999 State Representative Bob Brown announced the funding.

  • established itself in the year 2000.

  • requested proposals to help facilitate the project and the firm of Wade Trim Associates, Inc. was awarded the contract.

  • established an Advisory Committee and seven Advisory Committee meetings to prepare this corridor design plan.

  • and the Advisory Committee, during the Visual Preference Survey all-day workshop addressed the following issues: roadway lighting, signage, parking lot screening, landscaping issues. The final result was corridor design guidelines and model overlay zoning regulations.
